Zambezi Fishing

Angling Trips on the Mighty Zambezi

Zambezi fishing Safaris

Let Umdingi take you fishing on the upper Zambezi River (above Victoria Falls). You’ll be kitted out with your own private boat and equipment, and you’ll have your own expert local fisherman with extensive knowledge of the local flora and fauna to guide you, and show you where the best spots are!

Stop for lunch on an island completely untouched by man and enjoy an ice-cold beer with your meal, while elephant bath near the shore and the odd crocodile lurks a comfortable distance away. You and your guide meanwhile strategise the next tiger fishing spot most likely to yield one of the razor-toothed predators. Please note that all of our fishing excursions are strictly “catch and release”.

Bespoke Zimbabwe fishing trips

A reminder that everything we offer at Umdingi is bespoke – and designed to suit your every need. So please get in touch if you have something else in mind, or would like to combine some fishing with more of a river safari. We can then design your perfect all-inclusive African fishing trip.

Meet your fishing guide

Your local guide and expert fisherman will, in most cases, be the owner of Umdingi Safaris himself, Clint.

Clint is a Zimbabwe local with extensive knowledge of the local area and 8 years of experience as a fishing guide on the Zambezi. And this means you’ll get more than just an average fishing trip.

You’ll also be taking part in a river safari while you fish. You’ll get to know the indigenous flora and fauna, and hear stories about the Zimbabwean locals.

^
All Umdingi fishing trips are sustainable to support and respect our home, the beautiful Zimbabwe – we only offer catch-and-release fishing trips.
^
Your safety is our utmost priority.
^
The best months for African fishing on the Zambezi are August to November. These months have 90% chance of clear, blue skies and no rain.
^
Our Umdingi fishing trips are designed for people with at least some fishing experience. Of course, we can accommodate beginners. However, please bear in mind that a complete beginner will need more than just an afternoon of fishing to get to grips with the activity. Consider booking a longer African fishing trip if you are more inexperienced as you may need more time to learn.
^
Whilst we always carry extra sunscreen, please bring your own sun protection.
^
Ensure to wear long-sleeves and long trousers in light, flowy materials to avoid overheating or burning – or bring a shawl or cover for exposed skin.
^
Please bring a hat for sun protection.
^
Whilst we do everything in our power to help you catch the type of fish you’ve set your heart on, any experienced fisherman knows that often this comes down to luck! However, we guarantee that even if you don’t see the fish you came to catch, you will have an absolutely unforgettable experience.
